SMECO Notifications via Text Message (SMS):

SMECO’s text messaging service allows you to pay your bill, report outages, receive power restoration updates, and request outage status updates with your phone.
Start by texting REG (register) to 76326 (SMECO).

To manage your notifications, go to the Notification Preferences page in Account Manager, or use the following commands:

REG

Register your text-enabled cell phone for SMECO 24/7 text messages.

Each account can have unlimited phone numbers.
A phone number can have an unlimited number of accounts.

As of November 3, 2016, customers who register will automatically be subscribed to all available notifications.

  • Text REG to 76326.
  • After response, reply with your 10-digit phone number or SMECO account number.
  • After response, reply with the 5-digit ZIP code of the account’s service address.
  • Note: Speedy REG will attempt to match your device’s phone number with your SMECO account. If there is a match you will be prompted to validate or select an account. After the account is selected the registration is complete.

SUB

Subscribe to additional text messaging services.

Anyone registered prior to November 3, 2016, will need to text SUB for new notification services.
  • Text SUB to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection.
  • After response, reply with notification selection or ALL.

BAL

Request the balance for your account.

  • Text BAL to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection.

PAY

Pay your SMECO bill To pay via text you must have a SMECO online account and set up a "Wallet" using SMECO’s Online Bill Payment site. This is a one-time set-up for each account.

After setting up your Online Bill Payment Account, you will be enrolled in SMECO’s paperless billing program. You will receive text notifications with a link to view your bill. As a courtesy, you will receive two more paper bills after enrolling. You can cancel paperless billing at any time using SMECO’s Online Bill Payment site.

  • Text PAY to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection.
  • After response, reply with your PIN.
  • After response, reply Y to authorize payment.

OUT

Report an outage for your registered account.

  • Text OUT to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection.
  • After response, reply A if there are no lights on, reply B if there are partial lights on.

STAT

Receive an outage status for your registered accounts.

  • Text STAT to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection.

PAUSE

Temporarily stops Proactive Outage Notifications.

  • Text PAUSE to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection or ALL.

RESUME

Cancels pause command; starts Proactive Outage Notifications again.

  • Text RESUME to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection or ALL.

STOP

Cancels SMECO 24/7 notifications.

  • Text STOP to 76326.

NICK

Assign a nickname to your account as a reference for your SMECO 24/7 text message notifications.

  • Text NICK to 76326.
  • After response, reply with an account selection.
  • After response, reply with a nickname (max. 8 characters; no spaces or special characters can be used).

HELP

Receive a list of text commands for managing SMECO 24/7 text messages.
