What is a comprehensive walk-through analysis?
A comprehensive walk-through analysis is a home visit by a SMECO Energy Advisor to determine your home’s baseline energy efficiency and to identify opportunities for improvements. The Energy Advisor will visually evaluate your home and may conduct tests for air leakage. They look for opportunities to improve your home’s insulation, heating and cooling system, appliances, and lighting.
Schedule your home energy analysis today.
Should I accompany the SMECO Energy Advisor during the analysis?
Yes, because the findings will determine recommendations specific to your home. Your active participation will help you to understand the recommendations, learn tips for reducing energy use, and make informed decisions about making your home more energy efficient.
What if I choose not to implement any of the recommended improvements?
After your analysis is complete, you should review your Energy Advisor’s recommended improvements closely. They are also available to answer any questions you may have after the visit. You decide which upgrades to select—and that means you might choose not to make upgrades at this time. But if you do, your Energy Advisor will help you get connected with a trusted installation contractor. Throughout the decision-making process, your Energy Advisor can explain all the benefits of each potential upgrade.
What does it cost to participate?
SMECO customer-members may schedule a comprehensive walk-through analysis at no additional cost to your existing service. All residential customer-members are eligible, even if you have previously participated in the Quick Home Energy Check-up or Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® programs. You are responsible for paying for the improvements you agree to as part of the contract you sign with your chosen participating contractor. Improvement costs depend on your home (size, age, style, etc.) and the types of improvements you choose to make. Remember, you could be eligible for up to $7,500 in instant rebates from SMECO to help offset some of the upgrade costs.
