New 80-acre solar facility energized

In April, 2014 SMECO entered into a power purchase agreement with an affiliate of juwi solar, Inc. (JSI) to develop, design, and construct the 10.0-megawatt (MW) Rockfish Solar facility. This agreement brought a second major solar facility to Southern Maryland, building on a commitment to harvest renewable energy. Read more

Local students join the 2015 Youth Tour

SMECO joined other cooperatives from around the nation at the 2015 Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. with four local high school students from our service territory. SMECO chaperones Natalie Cotton and Charlie Herbert took Matthew Bennett from Northern High School, Sadé Herbert from Chopticon High School, Laura Phillips from Westlake High School, and Rica Taliman from Gwynn Park High School to the Youth Tour.
