SMECO 75 Bike Ride 2016

Community Fund-Raisers

As part of SMECO’s commitment to the community it serves, each year the Cooperative raises money for a different local charity. The two main fund-raisers are the SMECO 75 Bike Ride in June and the Charity Golf Tournament in October. Both events are supported by a group of volunteers, the SMECO executive team, and vendors.

The 2017 fund-raisers will benefit Southern Maryland organizations that are concerned with the environment:

This year’s bike ride is set for Saturday, June 3. Sign up to enjoy a ride through the Southern Maryland countryside and help protect the environment.

Participants can choose among three routes of 29, 47, and 75 miles that start at the SMECO headquarters in Hughesville and go as far as Colton’s Point in St. Mary’s County. The SMECO 75 attracts cyclists from all over the area, and this is a great event for experienced riders or newcomers.

Cyclists who want to participate can register online at or download our printable registration form (PDF). Businesses who are interested in showing their support through sponsorships can contact Natalie Cotton for more information at 301-274-4377 or via e-mail, or fill out and return the sponsorship form.
